Traditional therapy offered in the medical model focuses on cognitive processes, and helping you change how you think about things. It includes things like documentation, diagnosis, structured goal setting and evaluation, and centers the therapist as the expert. This can be useful if you are applying for disability, or involved in legal issues that require various documentation like a Diagnostic Assessment/Diagnostic Summary, progress notes, or treatment plans.

Counsel is a holistic process that centers you as the expert in your healing. It focuses on your own innate capacity to heal by more holistic measures, such as gut biome, movement, meditation, plant  medicine work, spiritual and nature based practices, divination, and somatic work. This option does not include documentation. 

I am an approved supervisor for the MN Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, and I offer apprenticeships to select individuals who are seeking licensure, with an intent to decolonize the practice of therapy.
