The national news currently highlights a need for healing the intergenerational trauma of white supremacy. As a majority of therapy spaces are occupied by white bodies, it is critical to provide a space to unravel the ways in which white supremacy is showing up in our healing spaces through our own bodies.
This two day workshop offers a unique opportunity for therapists who want to show up in their communities and leverage their privilege more effectively.
If you have ever felt a call to deepen your commitment to marginalized communities, but are unsure how to do that, then this workshop is for you! In this workshop we will explore the ways that therapy spaces are designed to support white supremacy, while we collectively engage in learning skills to create more connection and relational spaces instead.
This workshop is open and available to all human beings and strives to support marginalized groups most impacted by the mental health system. It was specifically created to offer spaces to white therapists who are interested in unraveling their own embodied white supremacy. It is meant to be a space to explore with curiosity, and letting go of judgments. In an effort to create this space, this workshop is limited to 12 individuals.
We have applied for approval by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy for 16 hours of continuing education credit for LPC’s and LPCC’s.
We remember trauma cognitively, and shifting our thoughts can be helpful in the creation of new neural pathways. But did you know that the bulk of our memories are stored in our bodies?
Without also processing traumatic memories in our fascia, we will continue to be triggered and often not understand why.
In 2 day this workshop, we will explore how trauma impacts the whole person. We will unpack (and unlearn) the current paradigm of treatment for PTSD, and learn new ways to access healing through our bodies, using guided meditation, somatic movement practices, active imagination, along with group discussion and journaling.
This workshop is $199, and is non-refundable. Attendance for both days is strongly encouraged to support group cohesion and relationship building throughout. Sessions will go from 9-4 both days, with an hour lunch. Snacks and tea will be provided, with many lunch options available in the building.
